A Message from the Chapter President

Dalia Davies Flanagan

Class Of 2004

Welcome to the Official New York Nest for all Alumni of North Carolina Central University.

As the newly elected President, it is both an honor and a privilege to welcome you to our growing community of alumni, supporters, and lifelong culture creators. Whether you're a new member joining us for the first time or a returning alumnus/a continuing your Big Apple story, we are thrilled to have you as part of this dynamic and iconic collective.

There is a ton of change happening to elevate your membership experience. I have created this website for your convenience and also our Instagram page @nccuaa.newyork Make sure to follow us and share content. We are constantly updating our database, so please fill out our 2min survey and make sure we have your current contact information. You can always email me or anyone on the Executive Board at nccuaa.newyork@gmail.com. We are in the process of updating the bank account to make all cash flow clean and simple. Finally we need committee members to help plan events in the areas of Sports, Arts & Entertainment, Civic Justice, Generation Next, and the Annual Fundraiser. Make your voice heard. We want to host the events you want to attend. As I brainstorm and dream of ways to take this chapter to new heights, two common phrases that have been passed down through African communities at home and abroad for centuries come to mind: “Each One, Teach One” …a very clear vision, and “If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want To Go Far, Go Together”. Many New York Eagles got here by listening to our gut and following that spark in our hearts...and 'gone fast.' It is my mission to help us now go farther — together. If you have a show coming up, TELL US!! We will help you promote it. If you’re speaking on a panel, TELL US!! We will fill those seats with engaged listeners. If you run a business or service, TELL US!! We will shop black every time. There is strength and beauty in numbers. Your involvement is critical to our success, and we look forward to collaborating with you to make a meaningful impact on our shared HBCU legacy and pipeline for future generations of scholars with the intelligence and moxie to soar from North Carolina to take on one of the most Alpha cities in the world. To honor that savvy and skill, my mission for the next two academic years will be to increase the number of membership, and to re-imagine the purpose and benefits of upholding an alumni network. I am absolutely thrilled to work with the Eagles that round-out our Executive Board. Your newly elected officials are a kaleidoscope of personalities and skillsets from various industries across our great state. Some are veterans, whom I gratefully stand on the shoulders of. Others are some of my most beloved classmates, friends and chosen family. Our association is a testament to the fellowship, legacy, and enduring spirit of North Carolina Central University—a place where history was made and futures are shaped. Together, we carry forward the proud tradition of black excellence, leadership, spiritual truth and service that has defined our alma mater for generations. We are very much under construction, so make sure your voice and opinions heard. THANK YOU for being a part of this wild journey. Don’t be shy and don’t forget you can always come home. Get active. And tell a friend to tell a friend. The goal is Joy! All The Best, In Truth & Service Dalia Davies Flanagan Class of 2004
